Earthday

Gakuru heaved, and pushed the boulder up out of the gorge, where a waiting Saklarian finished pulling it out. One of the most destroyed parts of the main park in Cruix. A gorge carved right through the center, caused by the earthquake, destroying the beautiful scenery around. Various ways had been discussed to get rid of it- fill it and replant in it, fill it and cover it with a path, even plant in side it and make an interesting walk through for visitors. Eventually it was decided what would be done with it. It would be cleared, and turned into a river, filled with the natural lifeforms that decided to inhabit it, started off by few choice subjects. Gakuru had wanted to help in everyway he possibly could, and decided that he had to volunteer to help with this project.

He bent down to grip another boulder, and heaved it up to the Saklarian again. He wiped the sweet off of his forehead, and breathed in deeply, as he heard various species call out in their own language, "Everyone out of the gorge!" The smell of the dirt filled his lungs, and he transformed to fly up out of it. Landing gently to the side of the gorge, he watched as other volunteers climbed or flew out as well. He settled himself down on the grass, and watched as some other volunteers readied the waterproof covering for the base of the gorge, just to make sure it wouldn't leak, to be rolled inside. It fell in, and Gakuru flew back into the gorge, changing back into his human form while the others came back inside as well. Some began to smooth it and flatten it out, while others brought back the rocks and boulders to wheigh it down.

Gakuru went back to where he had previously been standing, the Saklarian waiting there for him to rejoin. Gakuru smiled to him. "Ready when you are," he said, and the Saklarian nodded, reaching out for one of the boulders Gakuru had pushed up there. They weren't too large. It wouldn't be safe to lift the large ones on their own. But they were still pretty heavy. Gakuru caught the rock just as it was tipped over the edge, and, using the side of the gorge to rest it against, he gently lowered it down. He placed it down, along the edge of the covering, and made sure it stayed firmly in place. He looked back to the Saklarian, and nodded, indicating that he was ready for the next one.

Gakuru groaned as he and five others pushed one of the last large boulders into place. before sighing with relief, and collapsing onto the floor, and looking up at the sky. Finally, he could relax a little. He caught his breath, and sat up, waching groups of others doing the same. It looked quite strange; a blue floor with rocks and plants dotted around it in various sizes and colours, with rocky walls climbing up either side, and various alien species either collapsed on the floor in exhaustion, or still pushing the huge rocks around. He laughed to himself, and smiled happily. It had been a long days work, but it was worth it. They had been working at this gorge for weeks, and finally it was done. Well, almost. There was one vital thing missing; the water.

The sun was begining to set. Everyone was tierd and hungry. Gakuru heard the call that everyone could finish for the day, and to arrive bright and early tommorow to see the water finally be released into the gorge. Gakuru wasn't entierly sure where they were going to get the water from, but he trusted that they would find it from somewhere; there was plenty of others working on that job. He shifted into his beast form again, and with one final burst of energy, he sprung himself up into the air. As he glided to the make-shift shelter he had made himself, he glanced casually back at the scene below. Tomorow, it would be a gushing river, and he would be there with the others, ready to fill it with animal life.
