Phlox and Lotus

The misty haze began to clear. Locki began to make out what the surroundings were: a group of flowers, of various species, shades and colours covered over a patch in the middle of a field. When she looked closely, she focused on a small bunch of flowers in the centre, a bunch of purple phlox flowers from Earth. Somehow, she instinctivly knew it was supposed to be her. She looked at the other flowers, wondering who they represented, but could link no-one with them. While she engrossed herself with searching, the stem of her flower snapped, and the phlox began to float away on the breeze. The sudden interuption of her thoughts confused her, but soon enough she began to enjoy the sensation of floating through the air. Gradually, on the horizon, another patch of flowers began to emerge. Her floaty mood made her want to drift towards it, and for some reason, the wind seemed to agree. As she came closer she saw another flower, sort of standing out from the others, all on its own, and the wind pushed her towards it. It was purple, another Earth plant, a lotus, and the wind insisted on pushing her towards it, getting faster and faster, until she was suddenly hurled into it at top speeds. She found her flower wrapping itself around the other, and then, slowly but surely, everything began to fade into black...

Locki rolled over in her bed restlessly, and opened her eyes slowly. What the heck was that dream about? It, just, felt so... so... so real! Groggily, she dragged herself out of her bed, pulled on a short, brown tunic, and headed outside. Although Kire hadn't been Shaman for very long, it still made sense to ask her about it. The dream was just so confusing, she had to talk to someone about it.

Locki found Kire soon enough, and was soon eplaining the dream to her. Kire listned to her, and when Locki had finished, she looked at her and said, "Did it ever occur to you, that it might be your... mate dream?" Locki just blinked at her, sort of glazed over. A... mate dream?

"But... but... who was I dreaming about?" she asked, focusing back into reality. Kire just shrugged.

"It could be anyone, Locki. Someone you've known for a while, or someone you've never known. You'll just have to open your mind, give it some time. You'll know for certain when they come along." Slowly, Locki nodded.

"I... I guess so..." Thanking Kire for her time, Locki left her, to allow herself time to think more on it by herself.

A week past by, but Locki had come no closer to figuring out her dream. She sat sulkily upon a rock, far from the tribes center, and stared absentmindedly into the sky. Why did it have to be so difficult? She had been trying to see if anyone she knew could fit the dream, but no-one seemed right. As she sat there, she became completely immersed in her thoughts, and began to forget about everything else around her.

"So, what leaves you so lost in thought out here?" Locki was so shocked by the sudden voice that she jumped up, and fell from the rock. Shaking her head, and dusting herself down, she jumped back upright, turned around, and found herself face to face with the source of the voice.

"Thats not funny, Vye! You scared me!" She punched him on the arm, and climbed back onto the rock. Vye was the Solo for the Seryent tribe, the only other tribe on Cruix. Despite the tribes being rivals, the two seemed to get along pretty well. Initially, they had started on bad tems, but they slowly began to accept each other - even like each other. Maybe it was because of their similar, loner natures, or maybe it was something else, but they got along none the less.

"Well maybe you should pay more attention to whats going on around you, then," he retorted with a smile. She rolled her eyes at him, and he continued, still grinning, "You were just completely out of it. What were you thinking about? Problems back home?"

"Even if it was, why would I tell you? You'd just report back to your boss, and he'd use it against us." She smiled sacasticaly, and he laughed at her.

"I was just thinking about a dream I had a bout you." The words came out of her mouth without even her own consent. And yet, it made sense. Of course the dream meant Vye.

"About me?" he asked, raising an eyebrow at her. She nodded, thinking that she may as well tell him, after all, it concerned him. So she explained it all to him, including that Kire had said it could be a mate dream.

"K-K-Kire?" A nervous Locki was not something you would usually see, but the fact that it could be disallowed for her to have Vye as her mate scared her a little. The young Shaman faced her, smiling, and Locki nevously continued, "I-I think I found out who the dream means."

"Who?"

"Vye. H-he is the Solo of the Seryent tribe." Locki looked down at her feet. She had no idea how Kire would re-act to this news. Thankfully, though, she didn't have the ashamed or disgusted response that Locki thought she would have. In fact, she seemed happy for her!

"So... Do we have your approval?"

"Of course! After all, it's what the spirits have shown you is right."

In contrast to her usual nature, Locki jumped and hugged Kire tightly, before rushing off to find Vye, and find out what his Shaman had decided.
